What is a ‘Clutch Performance’?
Clutch relates to delivering or achieving self-referenced goals under pressure circumstances. Currently there is a misconception around what a clutch performance is ( with an assumption being that a clutch performance is based on an objective outcome ). Examples of this would be scoring a penalty kick in football, or a free throw in basketball - both regarded as high pressure situations.
However, new research suggests that the concept is a lot more nuanced and has more subjective components. A clutch state is regarded as an optimum performance state and has been described as ‘making it happen’ (Swann et al. 2016) suggesting there are processes and factors that can help an athlete to enter a clutch state, leading to a clutch performance.
Our three-week online programme looks specifically at how we can develop psychological strategies that will enable us to enter a clutch state, and deliver a clutch performance - specifically from a calisthenics lens. The research that has been done in order to develop the programme is specifically related to calisthenics.
When?
Monday February 10th | 17th | 24th
The aim of the programme is to help you develop your own strategies that can enable you to enter your own clutch state. We will help you create your own pre-performance routine that can enable you to deliver under perceived pressure circumstances. This will be based on a variety of different psychological principles and mental skills, and ultimately you will decide what works for you and helps you to enter a clutch state.
