Inter Schools Initiative

We are delighted to announce the first-ever inter-schools competition!

This event is being held in dlr leisure services and promises to be an amazing day promoting the sport of calisthenics!

Four schools will participate in the inaugural event, and students will showcase their calisthenics skills!

There will be two forms of competition - freestyle and recreational - with a winner in each category decided by an accumulation of points.

The school who wins the freestyle event will be presented with the first ever plaque trophy, inscribing their name and developing the tradition that this will be the first of many to come as the sport continues to develop.

Freestyle Competition

Five participants from each school will be selected to participate in the freestyle competition. Their routines will be judged in three separate categories, dynamics, statics and combinations.

However this is the first competition of it’s kind where each participants points will added up as a combined score for each school. This means the winning school is the one that gets the most points overall from their five participants. Creating a team environment within what is traditionally seen as an individual sport! The aim behind this has been to create a positive environment within the sessions and a sense of identity for the participants, and being proud at representing their school in the competition.

Recreation Competition

The recreation competition will also involve participants from each of the four schools. Again, scores will be added up amongst the participants in each challenge ( the top three scores from each school ) and the team/school with the most points will be crowned the winners.

The challenges are:

  • Hanging

  • Bridge

  • Frog Stand

  • Push-Ups

There will also be demonstrations from other leading calisthenics athletes from Ireland and this promises to be a great celebration of the sport, and great occasion for all schools!

We can’t wait to welcome everyone there!
